As part of the University’s commitment to excellence in teaching, CTLT conducts a formal training programme for Teaching Assistants (TAs). The Teaching Assistants’ Programme (TAP) aims to enhance TAs’ knowledge, skills, and self-efficacy in facilitating active learning within classrooms. TAP comprises of two parts: TAP-Foundation (TAP-F) and TAP-Intermediate (TAP-I). These programmes aim to strengthen TAs’ teaching practices, thereby maximising their positive impact on student learning outcomes.
The TAP-F is a foundational course designed to introduce new TAs to the basics of teaching in NUS. New TAs will be introduced to a variety of topics including: (1) Building Trust and Belonging in the Classroom, (2) Constructive Alignment, (3) Active Learning Strategies, (4) Questioning Techniques, (5) Providing Formative Feedback, (6) Effective Classroom Communication and (7) Mental Wellness to support their teaching in NUS.
This course is self-paced and entirely online, delivered through pre-recorded videos alongside various assessment tasks.
Individuals interested in the course are welcome to complete the registration forms here.
