About TEG Learning Improvement Projects

The TEG provides monetary support for scholarly projects that investigate and aim to improve instructional, pedagogical, curriculum, and assessment practices so as to advance students’ understanding. The grant is intended to promote a reflective approach to university teaching and student learning. It is further expected that the results from these projects will be made public in appropriate ways so as to improve institutional practice.

Learning Improvement Projects can be both short-term (1 year) and long-term (2–3 years). Short-term projects and activities are those that have the potential to enhance teaching and learning, such as the development of a classroom intervention or the redesign of a module. Whereas long-term projects are those that will significantly enhance teaching and learning, such as more extensive programme reviews or longitudinal projects that track students’ learning over time. Short-term projects can attract funding of up to $10,000, whereas long-term projects can attract funding of $25,000. Projects can further request a travel grant to attend an education conference at the end of the project to present their results. Such projects that request a travel grant can attract an additional $5,000 in funding and can be extended for 6 months.

Application is open to all faculty teaching members of NUS, working either individually or in small groups, whether inter-department or inter-faculty.
