About Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions have the overarching purpose of developing academics continually in a holistic manner. They foster more frequent, deliberate conversations and advocate interconnectedness of learning, research, and teaching.

CPD aims to encourage all NUS faculty to continually upgrade their professional skills, and has four broad aims:

  • To encourage faculty and staff to keep current of trends and thinking in the areas of teaching and learning.
  • To promote and propagate good practices and techniques in teaching.
  • To enhance faculty awareness of their own teaching
  • To promote reflective teaching leading to innovations in teaching for effective learning.

Each CPD session will be 1-2 hour sessions—seminars, dialogue sessions, workshops, demonstrations—for faculty and staff to attend. The sessions are designed to:

  • enhance awareness of academics’ teaching;
  • build teaching capacities;
  • improve teaching practice;
  • prompt practice-based reflection; and
  • provide opportunities for engagement both within and across disciplines.

Who Should Attend?

Sessions are open to all academic teachers and to any other staff member at NUS interested in teaching-learning matters of the university. Whether you are a seasoned educator or someone who is just embarking on your teaching journey, there will be something in the sessions that you will benefit from.
