Open Conversations, an initiative started in 2020, was prompted by a thirst for building community amongst colleagues who were, since the beginning of the pandemic, working remotely from home. These conversations focussed on a particular topic, but were largely unstructured and allowed colleagues to learn from one another and build a sense of esprit de corps. It was a platform for NUS colleagues to have an open exchange and discourse on a variety of topics of essential and immediate concern.
For each conversation topic, a background reading is provided, usually a short blog entry, an opinion piece, or a podcast. The conversation was then a platform for colleagues to share their insights or issues faced, allay concerns, or offer solutions or showcase their approaches. This enabled an engagement with a wider community, have meaningful conversations, and form their own small networks.
